Mysteriously quiet over the past two years since the release of his first album 6 Feet Beneath the Moon, appearances of the ever understated King Krule AKA Archy Marshall were few and far between, bar a collaboration with RATKING and an art exhibition. Last week an instagram account with the name edgar_the_breathtaker popped up unexpectedly and posted a photo with the caption ‘ANP2D coming soon…’ hinting at what only could be assumed was a new project. It turns out that ANP2D stands for A New Place 2 Drown, the title of a book showcasing the poetry and artwork of himself and his brother Jack showing ‘the creative process the brothers share as well as their social and home lives in South London.’
The book will be accompanied by a twelve track album released on the 10th of December, as well as a short film about the project which you can watch above. It was announced today via the website www.anewplace2drown.com, where you can preview three tracks from the unreleased soundtrack by clicking and holding whilst hovering your mouse over the ‘music’ button on the site.
The poetic melancholy of 6 Feet Beneath the Moon had an undeniably endearing quality about it and its unique sound left us wanting more. Although it’s been a long time coming, we’re glad it’s finally here.
