WHITE POWDER + VOICEOVERS + GUN WIELDING GANGSTERS = SCORSESE EPIC
The teaser trailer for HBO’s newest show VINYL has the Martin Scorsese scent all over it, however, this isn’t a money obsessed Casino sequel or a family mob orientated Godfather remake, but more a tribute to the sex and drugs fuelled music scene of the 1970’s, during the explosion of Disco, Punk and Hip Hop. Fitting then that Mick Jagger is the other creative half of the show.
WHITE POWDER + VOICEOVERS + GUITAR SMASHING ROCKSTARS = SCORSESE AND JAGGER EPIC
Vinyl stars Bobby Cannavale as Richie Finestra the music executive of a struggling label called American Century, where he tries to save the Label with a Punk Band trying his best to not to destroy himself or his relationships. Not much else is given away but its known that this project has been in the works since 2011. With Terence Winter (Broadwalk Empire, The Sopranos) and George Mastras (Breaking Bad) as writers and Scorsese as the director of the pilot its safe to say this will be a well constructed madness.
The Teaser features Cigar smoking label bosses, champagne popping boardrooms, screaming rockstar crowd surfing, the Loud and beautiful fashion of the hippy generation and oh, the lustful Olivia Wilde. We can safely say that HBO is leading the assault for most anticipated TV drama.
